Factors Affecting Copier Prices

When it comes time to buy major items for your office, you know you will have to put down a chunk of money. Computers, printers and copy machines are all very pricey, but you need them, so you buy them! The best you can do is to try to get the very best value possible for your money.

Copier prices, just like prices on other devices, vary drastically from machine to machine, brand and model. The amount you will pay depends on a number of factors we will discuss here.

Size/Functionality - You will find, logically, that the more you want your copy machine to do for you, the higher the price. Settling for a black and white copier with basic functions will be much less expensive than a color copier with lots of memory that prints, staples and folds your papers for you!

Before you shop, make sure you know what your needs are, how many copies you make per month, what extra functions will be necessary and which are superfluous.

Brand – You need to do your research here. Some companies have such a good reputation that their machines will always be more expensive than other brands. This is quality that adds value, so a cheaper model isn’t necessarily the way to go. You may end up spending more on servicing or just plain be unhappy with the quality of your prints if you don’t choose a well known brand.

New or Used – Of course there are advantages to buying a new copier especially in the assurance that it has no wear and tear, and the warranty that comes with it, but often discount copiers are a great choice for keeping your cost down.

When you buy a refurbished copier prices are much lower than for new machines. If you are sure to buy from a reputable dealer, you will be sure that you are getting a copier that has been very carefully cleaned and had the working parts replaced.

Also, good used copy machines will come with a warranty and you can usually also pay a monthly fee for maintenance. This will cover any cost of parts and labor for necessary repairs of preventative maintenance.

A large company which makes heavy usage of the copier will pay a lot more for a top quality, high speed machine that performs all the necessary functions and is able to handle a big load. For smaller offices, copier prices will be much lower.

Shopping around for a good copier price is necessary if you want to be sure you are getting a good deal. Once you have a feel for the going rates and the different prices different brands charge you can make a choice with a little advice from a sales rep.
